Organization Updates: Recruitments, succession plans and org changes
The Finance, Operations and Administration division recently announced organizational changes, including long-anticipated succession plans for a few high-profile retirements.
Long-time Budget and Institutional Analysis Director Bob Loessberg-Zahl, retiring in October, will be replaced by three people, splitting the original BIA portfolio in two: Steven Weisler as Chief Data Officer, and Co-Directors of Budget Sarah Mangum and Anissa Nachman. Steve has many years of experience in higher education as a faculty member (Linguistics), academic strategist and administrator, and institutional research leader. Reporting to Steve will be Assistant Director Jason Stewart, Assistant Director Erika Jackson, and Assistant Vice Chancellor Greg Siino (Business Intelligence).
Clayton Halliday, Campus Architect, announced his retirement for the end of the academic year in 2017. Recruitment has already begun to find a replacement in advance of Clayton’s departure, ensuring a smooth transition.
A new Chief Operating Officer was also recently hired: Blair Stephenson joins UC Davis from UC San Diego, where he has served 11 years in various chief finance and business officer positions, following a decorated 20-year Navy career in resource management.
Brenda Rebman, who currently serves as the interim Chief Human Resources Officer, accepted a two-year appointment to provide more permanent leadership through several upcoming major HR initiatives.
Lastly, Environmental Stewardship and Sustainability will now be known as the Office of Sustainability, under the leadership of Camille Kirk. The newly-named office will report to Campus Planning and Environmental Stewardship, under Assistan Vice Chancellor Bob Segar.
